About therapy with rosie
Therapy that meets you where you are
“Therapy doesn’t offer quick fixes, but it can offer hope, clarity, and connection.”
The process of psychological therapy involves an assessment that explores your life story, current difficulties, and the context around them. Together, you will work to make sense of these challenges, identify the areas where you would like support, set personalised goals, and use practical therapeutic strategies. Such as challenging unhelpful thoughts and changing problematic behaviours to help bring about positive changes in your life, with regular discussions to review progress and ensure the therapy continues to meet your needs.
Therapy doesn’t offer quick fixes – but it can offer hope, clarity, and connection. Rosie will ensure you’ll be met with care and curiosity, not judgment. She works slowly, gently, and in a way that respects where you are right now. Rosie will ensure you’ll be met with care and curiosity, not judgment. She works slowly, gently, and in a way that respects where you are right now. The therapeutic journey will look different for everyone. Some days may still be hard, but Rosie hopes to help you discover new ways of relating to yourself, to others, and to life.

She helps you with:
- Anxiety, stress & burnout

THERAPY SERVICES
How I work with you
Rosie is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches and works collaboratively with you to find the approach that feels right for your needs and preferences. Therapy begins with a thorough assessment and personalised formulation.
Assessment & Formulation
Rosie will start by carrying out an assessment to understand the difficulties you’re facing. From there, she will work with you to develop a formulation, which is a framework for understanding the difficulties you’re facing. Together, you’ll explore why these challenges are happening and what’s making them tricky right now. This helps you and Rosie decide on the best ways to work on them. The formulation is flexible and can be updated as new information or insights emerge during the course of therapy.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a widely used, practical and evidence-based psychological treatment that explores the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. This structured, goal-oriented and skills-based approach helps individuals recognise and challenge unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns, replacing them with more positive and effective strategies.
This therapy is usually short-term, lasting up to 18 sessions, and is focused on addressing specific problems. It is collaborative, meaning the therapist and client work together to set goals and track progress. Extensive research shows that CBT can be effective in helping young people and adults to manage a wide range of mental health difficulties and life challenges.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern, evidence-based approach that helps people live more meaningful and fulfilling lives, even when they are experiencing difficult thoughts or emotions. Rather than trying to control or eliminate inner discomfort, ACT focuses on building psychological flexibility – the ability to stay present and engaged with life as it is.
ACT works on the idea that fighting uncomfortable thoughts and feelings often makes them stronger. Therapy supports you to relate differently to your inner experiences, creating space for them while clarifying what truly matters to you. Values play a central role within this, guiding the choices and actions you take.
Through mindfulness, acceptance and behaviour-change strategies, ACT helps you step back from unhelpful thinking patterns and take purposeful action. The focus is on living well, not feeling perfect – supporting a richer, more fulfilling life even in the face of pain or uncertainty.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach that helps people who struggle with shame, self-criticism and feeling “not good enough.” It focuses on developing compassion for yourself and others, to support emotional healing, resilience, and a greater sense of safety. CFT can be particularly helpful if you find self-kindness difficult or feel weighed down by guilt, anxiety, or low self-worth.
CFT recognises our brains are naturally wired to detect threat, which can lead to patterns of fear, self-blame and harsh inner criticism, especially after difficult life experiences. Therapy helps strengthen the mind’s soothing system – the part that supports calm, safety and connection.
Through education, mindfulness, imagery and practical exercises, CFT supports you to build a compassionate inner voice and relate to yourself with warmth rather than judgement. Instead of trying to “fix” thoughts, the focus is on changing how you respond to yourself during struggle. CFT encourages a kinder, more understanding relationship with yourself, helping you move through life with greater confidence, balance and emotional wellbeing.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help people who experience intense emotions, overwhelming distress or difficulties in relationships. It is particularly helpful for those who feel stuck in cycles of emotional ups and downs, impulsive behaviours or patterns that feel hard to control.
DBT is based on the balance between acceptance and change. It recognises that emotional reactions often make sense given a person’s experiences, while also supporting the need to develop new skills to cope more effectively.
DBT focuses on building practical skills in four key areas: emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. Therapy aims to help people understand and manage their emotions, respond to distress without harming themselves or others, and communicate their needs more clearly. Over time, DBT helps develop greater emotional balance, resilience and a sense of control, supporting a life that feels more stable, meaningful and manageable.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgement. It involves becoming more aware of your thoughts, emotions, body and surroundings, rather than getting caught up in worries about the past or future. Mindfulness is not about clearing the mind or always feeling calm, but about noticing what is happening with curiosity and care.
Rooted in ancient meditation practices and widely used in modern psychology, mindfulness helps people gently shift attention back to the here and now. Simple practices such as focusing on the breath or observing thoughts as they come and go can build greater awareness and self-understanding, and mindfulness is a skill that anyone can learn.
Regular practice can support reduced stress and anxiety, improved mood, better focus and greater emotional resilience. While mindfulness does not remove life’s challenges, it changes how you relate to them, helping you respond with more clarity, balance and choice, and supporting a calmer, more connected way of living.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming Coaching (NLP)
Neuro-Linguistic Programming Coaching (NLP) is a practical, goal-focused approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, language and behaviours shape their experiences. Unlike therapy, it focuses on mindset, habits and performance, supporting personal growth, confidence, communication and effectiveness in everyday life.
Coaching helps you identify unhelpful patterns, develop new ways of thinking and responding, and take action that aligns with your goals. Using simple tools and exercises, NLP coaching builds clarity, focus and control, helping you perform at your best and create the changes you want in your life.

Rosie approaches this process sensitively and always in the best interests of the young person.
While Rosie provides thoughtful and supportive psychological care, her private practice is not able to offer crisis or emergency support, or ongoing care for individuals with high levels of risk or complex needs that require a higher level of care.
